Dopo l’addio di Frans Timmermans, il Parlamento europeo ha trovato l’accordo per nominare il commissario al clima Wopke Hoekstra e dare le nuove deleghe al Green Deal a Maros Sefcovic
Habemus successore. Il dopo-Timmermans per continuare a gestire le politiche ambientali dell’Unione europea si chiama Wopke Hoekstra. Confermati i rumors delle settimane scorse, tutto fatto e divisioni sul voto emerse ieri superate.

HOEKSTRA E SEFCOVIC, NUOVI VOLTI PER IL GREEN DEAL EUROPEO
“Abbiamo la maggioranza”, ha confermato stamani il presidente della commissione ambiente dell’Europarlamento Pascal Canfin (Renew, Francia). Il nuovo commissario al clima sarà Wopke Hoekstra e le nuove deleghe al Green Deal andranno a Maros Sefcovic.

A votare in maggioranza sono stati i gruppi di Ppe, S&D, Renew e Verdi. Di più: dopo le divisioni emerse ieri, relative alle posizioni del falco Hoekstra, “a fare la differenza sono state le risposte alle nostre domande, giudicate positivamente”, ha specificato Canfin.

Bene, dunque, “la chiarezza sull’obiettivo climatico del 2040 e quella sulle legislazioni in corso. Il Green Deal è sulla buona strada ora che abbiamo un’idea chiara di quali saranno i prossimi passi legislativi continueremo a legiferare”. Tra le proposte legislative pendenti, rientrano: il regolamento sulla plastica a ottobre; il regolamento sul monitoraggio delle foreste a novembre; la protezione degli animali durante i trasporti a dicembre.
Il voto per le nomine di Wopke Hoekstra e di Maros Sefcovic si concluderà giovedì al vaglio della sessione plenaria del Parlamento europeo di Strasburgo, dove sarà necessaria la maggioranza semplice.
